Beltane in the Rocky Mountains is not quite so springlike as other places. Here in Denver, CO May 1 is as likely to be snowing, sleeting, frosty as not. LAst weekend 10 inches of snow fell, and guess what, I didnt feel like celebrating Beltane. If I wouldn't send my cows utside to play, it's not Beltane.
My Beltane ritual is to roll in the dew on Beltane morning, I had to wait til this morning to get it. Yesterday was so warm that by the time i went outside at 6:30, the dew had dried up. Today i went out at 5:30, and there was a touch left.
Celebrating solitaire seems counterintuitive, but I will make offerings, make wishes and set intentions, do some divinations, and try to spend today engaged in creative work, rest, or play.
In two weeks I'm off to a Beltane gathering (beltania.org) and thee i'll be dancing a Maypole, dancing around fires in the woods, re-encountring my wild nature.
